The Peacock Crows: NBC Wins News Sweeps

Broadcasting and Cable is claiming a winner in the news Sweeps for November, and it’s “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams. “ (We’ll go with full disclosure. NBC is our parent company, but that doesn't mean it ain't news and we do watch a lot (too much?) tv on other networks, but don't tell our bosses.)

According to Nielsen Media Research, NBC had an average of 9.568 million viewers in the adults 25-54 demographic. That’s 7% higher than ABC’s “World News with Charles Gibson.” ABC took in 8.920 million viewers. The loser in the whole thing seems to be “CBS Evening News with Katie Couric”, who came in with 7.783 million viewers.

But don’t count CBS out of things just yet. News out of the network yesterday was that they’ll be pulling out the stops for the release of the Iraq Study Group proposal, even going so far as to cover the release live. Is a guy in Congress hands over a stack of paper really all that interesting? CBS is hoping so.
